GENERAL INFO RE ALARMS

There are several typs of alarm available on the market. These include

• Water surface sensors
• Infra red barriers
• Personal wrist alarms
• Gate alarms
• Movement sensors

These all suffer from potential problems, such as requiring an adult to be in range of the alarm, and react to it immediately, battery failures, false alarms from wind and debris etc.

There are AFNOR standards for this type of warning system, and they have been used in France for several years. However, there is a growing movement to relegate these to a secondary system, as they have been provento be fallible, and also the Chinese are now producing 'look alike' systems which are not of adequate quality ( although cheap!). This could, and will, eventually result in an accident occurring.

If a property owner has an alarm installed, there is a mentality that all is ' safe and secure' , but if the alarm is faulty or without power, or even if the water level has dropped below the sensor, then vigilance is lowered, and tragedy can occur.

We strongly suggest that permanent barriers and good removeable barriers are the best first line of defence, followed by secondary systems such as alarms. The best safety is always, adult supervision, in all cases.

Child Immersion Alarm :- Wristband and base unit ( mains 230v up to 30m away)

A last layer of protection for children near water . The wristband activates when it touches water and sounds the base alarm.
